There are a lot of window washers in Utah County, and they do not all work the same way. Here is how to compare them, and how I do it. I am Jac, and I wash exterior windows with a scrub and a deionized water rinse.
How Do You Compare Window Washers in Utah County?
Look at the method, the water, and what happens to hard water spots. Price matters, but two washers charging the same can leave very different results, because the method decides whether the windows stay clean or spot again in a week.
| What to compare | What to ask | How I do it |
|---|---|---|
| Final rinse | What water touches the glass last? | Deionized water, so minerals are already removed and the glass dries spot free. |
| The scrub | What do they use to loosen grime? | A wand scrubber with heavy soap and water, and my own hydrophobic My Hearthside window soap so water beads and rolls off. |
| Hard water spots | Can they remove set mineral spots? | A window blade and steel wool for set hard water, used carefully during the close-up scrub. |
| Frames and edges | Do they wipe the frames? | Yes, with microfiber cloths. |
| Reach | Can they do two-story homes safely? | A 30-foot ladder and a 21-foot Little Giant extendable ladder. |
| Screens | Are they included? | An add-on, not in the base price. |
| Quote | Do they come look first? | Yes, a free quote from me in person. |
Why Does Deionized Water Matter for Utah County Windows?
Regular tap water carries minerals. When it dries on glass, the minerals stay behind as spots, and over time they can etch into the glass. Deionized water has those minerals removed, so a final rinse leaves nothing to dry on the pane. Squeegee only finishes can leave a film of water at the edges that spots the same way.
What Else Should You Ask Before You Hire?
- What happens if spots come back after the job?
- Do they show up on the day they said?
- Do they treat the frames, sills and screens with care?
- Will they tell you honestly if the glass is etched and cannot be saved?
I answer yes to every one of those, and I will tell you the truth about etched glass instead of selling you a fix that will not hold.
What Do Utah County Homeowners Ask Me?
What should I ask a window washer in Utah County before hiring?
Ask what water they rinse with, how they handle hard water spots, whether screens and tracks are included or extra, what they do about windows that are too high, and whether they quote in person. Utah water is hard, so how a washer deals with minerals matters more here than almost anywhere.
Why do my Utah County windows spot again right after being washed?
Hard water minerals. If the last pass is regular tap water, the minerals dry on the glass and show up as spots. A rinse with deionized water has the minerals removed, so it dries without leaving them behind.
Do you wash interior windows?
No. I wash exterior windows only.
Are screens included?
Screen cleaning is an add-on, not part of the base window washing price. I can add it when I am there.
