How does deionized (DI) water window cleaning actually work?
Deionized water has had the minerals stripped out of it before it ever touches your glass. Regular tap water leaves those minerals behind as it dries, which is what causes streaks and spots. Because DI water has nothing left to leave behind, it dries completely clear on its own, no squeegee needed to finish the job.
Can hard water stains permanently damage my windows?
They can. Left alone, mineral deposits from hard water and sprinkler overspray etch into the surface of the glass over time, and at that point no amount of cleaning brings it back. Regular cleaning catches those deposits before they get to that point.
