Do Christmas Lights Cause Ice Dams? The Truth for Utah County Roofs

Honestly, I didn’t know this one myself until I looked into it: Christmas lights do NOT cause ice dams on your roof. Ice dams come from attic heat escaping and melting snow from the inside out — not from lights clipped along your fascia. And since every light I run on a Utah County roof is LED, they put off way less heat than old-school bulbs ever did. Clipped to the edge, never stuffed in your gutter, your roof and gutters stay just as safe as before I showed up.
